Work out your customer satisfaction score in seconds from your survey totals.

The interactive tool is at https://reuily.com/tools/csat-calculator. To do it yourself:

1. Count the responses that rated you 4 or 5 on a 1 to 5 scale.
2. CSAT = satisfied responses ÷ total responses × 100.
3. Write the result as a percentage.

## How to use the CSAT calculator

1. **Enter your satisfied responses.** These are the people who chose 4 or 5 on a 1 to 5 scale.
2. **Enter your total responses.** Count everyone who answered the question, whatever they chose.
3. **Read your score and the working.** The sum behind your score appears under it, so you can repeat it in a report.

## How do you calculate CSAT?

CSAT is the share of people who say they are satisfied. On the usual 1 to 5 scale, satisfied means 4 ("satisfied") or 5 ("very satisfied"). Answers of 1, 2 and 3 count towards the total only.

> CSAT = satisfied responses ÷ total responses × 100

For example, if 200 customers answer and 164 choose 4 or 5, your CSAT is 164 ÷ 200 × 100 = **82%**.

## What is a good CSAT score?

Scores vary by industry and by what you ask about, so your own trend matters more than any benchmark. As a rough guide:

| CSAT | What it means |
| --- | --- |
| 90% and above | Excellent |
| 80% to 89% | Good |
| 70% to 79% | Fair, with room to improve |
| Below 70% | Something is getting in the way |

## CSAT or NPS?

CSAT tells you how people felt about one moment, such as a delivery or a support chat. NPS asks whether they would recommend you, which says more about long term loyalty. Many teams send CSAT after each interaction and NPS a few times a year. If you also run NPS, the [NPS calculator](https://reuily.com/tools/nps-calculator) works out that score.

## How to get more useful CSAT results

- **Ask straight after the moment you want to measure.** A rating sent days later measures something else.
- **Add one open question.** "What could we have done better?" turns a low score into something you can fix.
- **Keep the scale the same every time.** Changing from 1 to 5 to 1 to 10 makes old and new scores hard to compare.

## Frequently asked questions

### Which answers count as satisfied?

On a 1 to 5 scale, 4 and 5 count as satisfied. On other scales, count the top two answers, such as 6 and 7 on a 1 to 7 scale.

### Does a neutral answer count?

A 3 on a 1 to 5 scale counts towards your total responses, but not as satisfied. Lots of neutral answers pull your score down.

### Is CSAT the same as the average rating?

No. An average of 4.1 out of 5 and a CSAT of 82% describe the same survey in different ways. CSAT is the share of satisfied people, which is easier to explain and to track.

### How many responses do I need?

There is no fixed minimum. With only a few responses, one answer moves the score a lot, so watch the trend as more come in.

### Is my data saved?

No. The calculator runs in your browser, and the numbers you enter are not sent anywhere or saved.
